GirlFriend Getaway Weekends
by Valerie Hylen
One of the best ways to rejuvenate yourself is to go on a girlfriend getaway weekend. We all have experienced the fun and laughter with our friends that renew our spirit.
Men have known about the joy of these getaways for DECADES. They have planned hunting, fishing and golf weekends with the boys! Now it is time we do the same.
Girlfriend getaway weekends have become so popular that many fine hotels are offering special girlfriend packages that include special rates, special meal rates, gift bags, perks, and local discount coupons. These could include spa treatments, theatre ticket discounts, shopping discount coupons and golf packages.
The choices are limitless, but here are a few suggestions:
1. For those on a low budget, visit one of your friend’s vacation homes. I have done this with my friends for the last 10 years and always look forward to it and treasure my memories. One friend has a house in Arizona, another in Florida where we enjoy the beach in winter, and another a quaint cottage on a lake in the mountains of NH. We have had a fabulous time at each place.
2. If you live in the country, head for a large city to take in some fine dining and theatre events
3. If you live in the city, plan a trip to a restful country setting
4. Go to a spa for a weekend
5. Plan a sport weekend that could include hiking, skiing, sailing, golf or tennis
6. Learn a new skill weekend. This could also include lessons in any of the above sports
7. Go on a retreat weekend. This could include yoga, coaching and meditation
8. Book an adventure vacation that could include white water rafting, rock climbing, hiking or biking or sailing
9. Book a weekend to visit art galleries
10. Rent a house at the shore for a weekend together
11. Visit a dude ranch and go riding for the weekend
12. Plan a weekend trip to a large outlet mall
To get the most out of the weekend, always ask if they will offer any special package or perks for your group.
Make sure you know all the things to do in the area. When the weekend starts, make a list of all the things everyone would like to do and then plan a schedule.
Have everyone chip in for expenses.
